Keeping Your Cool During The Summer

Hey y’all

If you aren’t already aware of this I am from Texas, the state that is hotter than wasabi (the spicy green stuff you put on sushi )outside for about 7 months of the year (seriously the temperatures stay around 100 degrees Fahrenheit)  but when I get hot and sweaty I get CRANKY, so I decided to put together a little list of things you can do to keep your cool this Summer. You’d think I would be used to the Texas heat considering i’ve lived here for 20 years..

  • Wear MINIMAL clothing

sandals, tank tops, shorts, or just wear your swim suit.

  • Put your long hair up, or braid it.
  • Drink A LOT of water

If you plan on being active drink A LOT more

  • Wear light colored clothing

Heat likes dark colors

  • Hang out at the pool (or other body of water)
  • Stay inside where it’s cooler
  • Take a cold shower

I HATE cold showers, but you feel refreshed after

  • Drink iced coffee instead of hot

I LOVE iced coffee

  • Eat fruits

Watermelon, strawberries, blue berries, black berries, raspberries…OHHH try freezing them and putting them in your water!!

  • Don’t eat a LARGE meal

Ever notice how outside animals eat less in the summer?? It’s because eating a huge meal makes you hotter.

  • Cucumbers are cool and refreshing, eat them
  • Get a small battery powered fan to carry around

They even make cool ones that spray a cool mist!!

  • Sit in the shade

Seriously just sitting in the shade makes a tremendous difference.

  • Go to the gym in the early mornings or evenings

I personally love spending evenings in the gym!!

Remember to also keep your pets cool in the Summer, they can overheat just as easily. If you need any tips on keeping your pets cool let me know in the comments i’d be happy to give some pointers.

I know there really isn’t much you can do to beat the heat, but I hope some of these tips helped you out. Thank you for reading, feel free to share your favorite season in the comment below.  Autumn is my favorite, then Spring, Winter, and Summer…it’s easier to stay warm in cool weather than to cool down in the hot weather.

Stay cool,

Morgan
